The lockdown started at 5 pm in Calcutta, following the predetermined rule at 5 pm. Traffic police started hacking from Shambazar in North Kolkata to Gariahat, Rasbihari at South Kolkata. At five o'clock, people were seen walking around the streets of the city's main streets. They called the police and told them to return home. Several taxis and minimus were also seen on the road.

Lockdown has begun at 5 pm Bazaar in all the cities of the state including Kolkata. From North Bengal to South Bengal all the cities have closed shop. In some cities, residents were crowded for last-minute shopping. Since morning, lockdown has been raging in many cities in the state. Concerns about this were also increasing.




Legal action if you do not agree to the lockdown

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the state governments to take stringent action so that lockdown is followed. Reportedly, the lockdown could lead to up to 6 months in jail. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has requested the residents of the state to stay at home. He said he would be forced to stay home by force if necessary.
